The Pololu D42V55F12 12V 4.5A Step-Down Voltage Regulator is a high-efficiency synchronous buck regulator designed to convert higher input voltages, up to 60 V, into a stable 12 V output. This regulator is part of the D42V55Fx family, known for their efficiency in reducing voltage, particularly when there is a significant difference between input and output voltages. It is capable of supporting continuous output currents ranging from 3 A to 8 A, depending on the specific input and output conditions.
This device incorporates several protective features to ensure reliable operation. It includes input reverse voltage protection and over-current protection to safeguard against electrical faults. Additionally, a thermal shutdown feature is integrated to prevent damage from overheating, while a soft-start feature limits inrush current and gradually increases the output voltage during startup.
The regulator is designed with a typical efficiency range of 85% to 95%, making it suitable for applications requiring energy conservation. It operates at a switching frequency of approximately 400 kHz under heavy loads and has a low no-load quiescent current, enhancing its efficiency in various conditions. The regulator also offers an optional enable input for low-power states and a power-good output for sequencing, fault detection, and voltage monitoring.
Note: Ensure proper handling and installation to avoid electrical hazards.
Six connections arranged on a 0.1″ grid for compatibility with solderless breadboards, 0.1″ male headers, and 0.1″ female headers.
